THE LEVY
Businesses in the UK with an annual payroll of more than £3 million will pay the levy.
The levy rate is 0.5% of an employers annual payroll, and businesses receive a £15,000 allowance to offset against their payment.
The levy is collected via PAYE, and can be used to purchase Apprenticeship education via the Government Gateway’s Digital Apprenticeship Service with approved providers.
NON LEVY PAYERS
The apprenticeship levy makes apprenticeship training more affordable for all businesses – levy payers or not. The government will pay up to 95% of apprenticeship training costs for non-levy payers, plus £1,000 cash for apprentices under 19, and National Insurance reductions for under 25s.
