Brian Deane scored the first goal of the Premier League era, for Sheffield United against Manchester United - five minutes into the game on August 15, 1992. 

Brian retired from professional football in the mid-2000s and has since gone on to cultivate a career as a manager and sports speaker, recently managing Norwegian team Sarpsborg 08. He is also part-owner of a up and coming football club in Kosovo and a consultant for Blacks Solicitors in Leeds.  

He spent much of his 21-year long career at Sheffield United and Leeds United and remains strongly affiliated with both clubs. He also played for clubs including Leicester City, West Ham and Benfica in Portugal. He was also called upon to play in several international games during his professional career, garnering three England caps. He played twice against New Zealand and against Spain on their home ground of Estadio El Sardinero in 1992.

Brian is articulate and a confident presenter. He is a far minded and intelligent man. He is often called upon to appear as a football speaker at club events and asked to comment upon the game by the media. He is also experienced in presenting to businesses and embassies on Leadership & Management skills applying the skills and lessons he learned in sport to business. 

Brian is a co-founder of Phoenix Sport & Media Group and has been appointed Group Chairman. He is passionate about Phoenix Sport and Media Group and helping players in difficulties as well as helping to safeguard the next generation of players. 

His role at PSMG draws on his experiences in sport as a leader and he applies this very enthusiastically to our business. One of his key roles is helping to shape and create a motivational environment for our talented team of advisors. He is also the bridge between our investors and our Board of Directors and in charge of ensuring our company stays true to our founder’s values and ambitions for the company.
